APAMSAOfficer-3.jpg

Nolan Soutipan

Co-President

What’s up everyone! My name is Nolan Soutipan and I’m a 4th year Molecular and Cell Biology major from Warren. I’ve been in APAMSA ever since my freshman year and it has definitely been great to meet new people and see the org grow over the years. Especially with how large campus is, it is nice to have a community of like-minded people that constantly push you to be the best version of yourself. The path to medicine takes a looooong time, so the resources and mentorship this org has to offer have been invaluable. Outside from that, I’m originally from Orange County and love spending my free time playing the guitar, basketball, and doing some photography on the side. It has been an exciting journey so far and I hope APAMSA can offer even more for you!

Chloe Le

Co-President

Hi y’all, my name is Chloe Le and I’m a 4th year General Biology Major in ERC. The first time I attended an APAMSA event was because they said there would be free food. And there was! The informational panel was also great too of course. It has been 4 years since that day. Since then I’ve enjoyed making friends, learning more about the pre-med journey, and helping others with their journey’s as well. I hope that everyone can benefit from APAMSA the way it helped me. I’m from the Bay Area, and I love rock climbing and surfing with friends (mostly because I’m too lazy to do these things by myself). I’m also silver 3 in valorant (my peak atm) and I enjoy crafty things such as making jewelry and crocheting. I also have a crusty white dog named Ramen, and I’m currently fostering a stinky cat named Squid (someone please adopt him he’s been with us for 6 months)

Tiffany Duong

Vice President

Hello, my name is Tiffany Duong! I am a third year human biology major from Marshall. I joined APAMSA during my first year when classes were completely online and found APAMSA as a fun space where I could meet new people. It was definitely helpful to have a mentor through the PATH program and have many events show me what it takes to be a pre-med when I first joined. Now that everything is in-person, I love being able to meet everyone face-to-face and trying to make the pre-med journey as enjoyable as possible with our events. Aside from APAMSA, I work in a lab doing Alzheimer’s research, participate in the Palomar Pathmaker internship, watch shows like K-dramas and House of the Dragon, and cook food when I have the time. I love talking to people, so feel free to let me know if you have any comments or questions about APAMSA or being pre-med!

Patrick Tram

Secretary

Hello! My name is Patrick Tram and I am a third year Human Biology major. Ever since my freshman year, I’ve been a part of APAMSA because of the numerous chances and opportunities I’ve been presented to make a lasting positive impact on our local communities! In between designing COVID care packages and hosting community game nights, I consider myself fortunate to have helped maintain this student organization from a logistical and administrative standpoint. Even outside of focus on academics and professional development, it’s extremely satisfying and entertaining to randomly run into the friends I’ve made on a daily basis! I love being able to join them for lunch, dinner, or grabbing a quick tea around San Diego. Besides being a total nerd about human biology, I also really enjoy cooking, composing music, and exploring new places!

Bernice Hwang

Publicity Chair

Hello! I am Bernice Hwang, a fourth-year Human Biology Major and Psychology major in Revelle College. I joined APAMSA last year after attending the Week 0 Beach Social. I was able to gain insight on how to make my pre-medical journey “easier” and also just learn things that I did not know before. I am in the BS portion of the BS/MS Biological Research program at our school and  plan on applying to medical school after. Other things I’m involved in are AMSA, It’s On Us, TBIN, Saltman Quarterly, and scribing to become a Medical Assistant! I also do radio commentary and social media for our school’s sports teams; I grew up playing basketball so my favorite is basketball. I dabble in many different things so feel free to reach out.

Luther Ela

Treasurer

Hey! My name is Luther Ela. I am a second year Microbiology major in Seventh College. I have been in APAMSA since my first year here at UCSD and loved how it provided me with leadership and volunteering opportunities, resources to help me on my premed journey, and new friends to make the transition into college much smoother than I initially expected. I like APAMSA because of how chill and caring the officers were to members which made new students to UCSD, like me at the time, feel welcomed and have a sense of belonging in a big university. Personally, I was born and raised in Southeast San Diego. Aside from my premed aspects,I love music, specifically singing and playing guitar, going to the gym to maintain good physical and mental health, and have recently gotten back into taekwondo after stopping it due to the pandemic. Please reach out to me if you have any questions about anything in general!

Hannah Stanford

Member Relations Co-Chair

Hello! My name is Hannah Stanford and I am a 4th year transfer student from Revelle! I am a Human Biology major with a Psychology minor. I have been in APAMSA for a year now and am loving it. APAMSA has so many great opportunities to get involved in the community and healthcare, which is one of the reasons I joined. I also have made a lot of friends through APAMSA and met so many people that have helped me on my journey as a transfer student at UCSD. Outside of school I love to go find good food to eat (particularly asian food because it’s delicious, or some good fries) with my friends. Recently I’ve been experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and trying to expand my cooking knowledge. I was born and raised here in SD, so I go home a lot to visit my two horses and dogs! I’ve been riding most of my life and still like to compete locally when I don’t have exams or work. Feel free to ask me questions about anything! I would love to chat with you!
P.S. If anyone has any good food places or recipes please recommend them to me :)

Melton Fan

Member Relations Co-Chair

Hi everyone! My name is Melton Fan, I am a 3rd year general biology major with a minor in psychology from Marshall. I joined APAMSA in my sophomore year of college and I really loved the people I had met through the club and the connections it has allowed me to create. I'm originally from the East coast(Boston) and, given COVID kinda kept me home all of freshman year, APAMSA was one of the first in-person clubs I joined in college. The PATH program I found to be really beneficial as it paired me with a (if you will)‘seasoned’ mentor that guided me through the ropes of the premed journey and gave really good tips about college life in general. That’s a lot of the reason why I decided to apply for the members relations position which I am in now! Outside of school, one of my huge hobbies is cars. I'm really into the sport of racing, especially rallycross and formula drift. I also like sports in general, anything that gets me physically active and is, slightly, competitive I find to be really fun! I’m also really into video games but had to slow down recently due to school n stuff but I still play semi-regularly. My primary games are CS:GO, Forza, and LOL but I'm open to anything! If you think any of our hobbies align or you have any question in general please feel free to reach out to me.

Jake Tran

Volunteer/Outreach Co-Chair

Hey all!  My name is Jake Tran and I’m a third year Human Bio major in Revelle.  I've been APAMSA since my second year and really enjoy the fact that through APAMSA we are given so many opportunities to serve the community via things like volunteer events. I was born and raised in San Diego. I just joined the Taekwondo team here at UCSD with a fellow APAMSA man(Shoutout Luther). Besides APAMSA I am also involved in another org called APSA(Asian and Pacific Islander Student Alliance).  I love playing sports, cooking(Shoutout Walter White… jk), and generally just hanging out with friends.

Rui Wang

Volunteer/Outreach Co-Chair

Hi, my name is Rui (pronounced ray or gooey with a r). I am a second year Biochem major in Sixth college majoring in Biochemistry. I participated in the volunteering events during my 1st year and found that it is a great way to bond and chill with other people, which is why I am now a volunteer chair! I like APAMSA because sometimes I am not so good at talking to people and I feel like APAMSA has created a safe environment to interact with people with similar interests to me. Additionally there is FREE FOOD AND NO MEMBERSHIP COSTS so my wallet stays happy. More about me: I LOVE ANYTHING HORROR, I am chaos in the kitchen, I like playing piano, I play games like Stardew and Valorant, I love gardening, and I am interested in trying out any sport! HMU FOR ANYTHING! DISCORD : pumpkin’s plush#0004

Owen Tai

Advocacy Co-Chair

Hi! My name is Owen Tai, and I’m a 2nd year in Marshall majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Music. I joined APAMSA during my freshman year and attended a variety of events including socials, volunteering, and peer advising events. I think that the coolest part of APAMSA is the impact that we’re able to make together in the community even while we’re still undergrad students. The many opportunities to serve and care for people alongside peers is really something special. In addition to APAMSA, I am also on leadership in AACF (Asian American Christian Fellowship), play trumpet in the MUS 95JC jazz band, work as a behavior interventionist, and play piano at my church. I love anything music-related, sports-related (especially basketball and rock climbing), or people-related, so don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or just to hang out!

APAMSAOfficer-5.jpg

Ann Quach

Advocacy Co-Chair

Hi everyone, I’m Ann Quach, and I’m a 3rd year student from Sixth College, majoring in Neurobiology and minoring in Cognitive Science! I’ve been with APAMSA since my sophomore year, and I really loved the creative opportunities that this club offered their members. APAMSA’s dedication to the Asian-American communities really drew me in during that first year, and this year, I’m excited to be able to advocate for the message that we represent on a larger scale. Aside from my time in APAMSA, I also work as an EMT and as a tutor for UCSD’s OASIS program. I’m originally from Orange county, and I’ve really enjoyed being able to explore all of San Diego’s attractions, especially Point Loma and Liberty Station. I really love drinking milk tea and coffee, so while last year, I explored all the different boba spots in SD, this year, I am working through a list of all the good coffee spots in SD! I also really enjoy growing plants, and am slowly amassing an apartment full of them. Some of my other hobbies are photography, reading, and driving around in my spare time. If you ever want to grab a coffee or just want to hang out, feel free to reach out!
